About the Founder - Jim Tuffin

Jim Tuffin has been around the business circuit for the last 30 years or so and has been involved with dozens of new start-ups.  Some have failed, some have been successful, a few spectacularly! From success to failure the result has been a growing level of knowledge and experience which Jim brings to others.  He has a huge business network of contacts and continues to invite more to join him.

Jim is passionate about the small business and how it can be successful. He has watched many fail, including some of his own, and continues to try and understand the what, why and how a small business can be successful and grow into a larger and secure going concern. He believes that many fail because, although they have a great product or service, they actually destroy themselves by failing to understand that products and service do not make a business.  The way a business operates, how it funds itself, how it is managed and how it finds the correct route to market are all critical. Experience has shown that individuals tend to start business around what they know well. The technical aspects of what they have been doing, perhaps in a corporate environment.  The issue is, of course, that operating a successful business needs much more!

Summing up, Jim believes that most small business owners believe they have all the answer and know how to operate, when in the real world, most might be good at what they do, but that is a long way from running a successful company.
